Human Factors - Hair Clippers Redesign
Utilising ergonomic and anthropomorphic data and principles to redesign and improve existing hair clippers.
The final proposed product features the new and improved shape of the product, with a wider more cylindrical profile to prevent sharp edges protruding into the users hand. The handle comes fitted with improved silicone grips that have been specially tailored to the average users different hand postures when holding the product. The product also comes fitted with an LED display to communicate the settings of the product to the user, this can be helpful to customers who are hard of hearing and individuals without disabilities alike. It is also equipped with speakers to allow partially sighted users, or the average person to know the settings selected.

The increased diameter of the product improves the usability for not only the people within the 50th percentile but also individuals suffering from disabilities such as arthritis. Existing semiotics were kept on the product such as the power and charging symbol to allow the user to understand how to use the product. The LED screen also provides a charging progress bar to improve the safety of the product to prevent overcharging.
